Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Jean C. Sternberg, 70, of Roland passed away November 8, 2019 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be Wednesday November 13 at 1pm at Cornerstone Church in Ames. Burial will be in the Roland Cemetery.

Jean was born on May 19, 1949 in Alta, Iowa to Clarence and Donnabelle (Leber) Sievert. She married Richard Sternberg on August 5, 1973 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She and Dick moved to Roland in the summer of 1979.

Jean was an elementary teacher for five years and was a bank teller at Roland State Bank and then First American Bank in Roland for 19 years; but her most important job was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, family gatherings, her flower gardens, Bible studies and her grandchildren. And most of all, she loved Jesus!

Jean is survived by her husband, Richard of Roland; two daughters, Leatha (Mark) Arant of North Liberty, IA and Rachael (Reed) Wessman of Mason City; ten grandchildren; her mother, Donnabelle Sievert of Storm Lake; two brothers, Steven (Valerie) Sievert of Spirit Lake and Paul (Lynette) Sievert of Amherst, MA and five sisters, Mary Chedwiggen of Salina, KS, Donna (Al) Glienke of Alta, IA, Diane (Bill) Tisue of Decorah, IA, Becky (Randy) Reuter of Perry, IA and Janet (Ron) Garrison of La Crescent, MN.

She was preceded in death by her father.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church’s two orphanages in Zambia and South Africa.
