MRS. M. L. DEAL

Effie Trego Deal was born at Orin, Henry county, Ill., Sept. 22, 1861 and departed this life at Zearing, Ia., Feb. 3, 1915 at the age of 53 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was united in marriage August 31, 1884 to Milton L. Deal at Keswick, Ia. To this union six children were born, Otto T. Deal of Blue Earth, Minn., Lili Hambly of Adams, Minn., Medora Clark, Ethel Hoberland, Orel L. and Leon B. Deal all of Zearing. Her husband departed this life Jan. 22, 1906. The deceased was educated in the public schools of Iowa, the high school and Christian College of Oskaloosa, Ia. She was a teacher in Marshall county for number of years.

Mrs. Deal was brought up by parents who were member of the Quaker church and early in life gave her heart to God and became a christian united with the church to which her parent belonged, throughout her life she remained steadfast to the church and never united with any other religious denomination.

She was a woman of exemplary character, modest and quiet in nature. In every respect she was woman worthy to be an example among the people. She was a lover of home and her children always teaching them as best she knew to believe in the lowly Nazarine to whom she was faithful until the end.

Her sickness has been of long duration lasting through the past two years suffering it all patiently, waiting to hear the welcome, "Well done, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." She was an earnest worker in the W. C. T. U. serving as treasurer and corresponding secretary for a number of years. The union has lost a willing worker and faithful member, one who will long be missed by them.

The last six months of her life was spent in Idaho visiting her home folks, which was great comfort to her, as she had planned the visit for three years but health did not permit her going sooner. After visiting with her aged mother and her sister for several months she went to the home of her brother where her health again failed. Her daughter Mrs. Clark who called to bring her home. She stood the trip well and was taken to the home of her daughter Mrs. Ethel Hoberland where in one short week death called her to her reward. Just the night before the end came she wrote a letter to her brother and was about the house, her children with her to the last except Otto who had not yet heard of her serious illness.

She leaves to mourn their loss six children, seven grand children, her aged mother, one sister, two brothers besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Evangelical Church Saturday p. m. February 6, 1915. The sermon was preached by Rev. D. C. Busenburg, while the service was conducted by Rev. McLaughlin. Burial took place in the Zearing Cemetery.
