Funeral of Maria McNichols.
The funeral of Miss Maria McNichols who died at her home in Marshalltown Saturday morning at one o'clock, occurred at St. Patrick's church in this city, this morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Father Nichols officiating. The remains arrived from Marshalltown on the morning west bound train and were taken directly to the church, where the friends and relatives were already assembled.
The death of Miss McNichols came as the result of an attack of septic poisoning following an operation for tonsilitis some weeks ago. She had been very low for some weeks ago. She had been very low for some days and her death was expected. Previous to the time of this attack the health of the deceased was generally considered good.
Maria McNichols was born Sept. 20, 1880, at Phillips, Price county, Wisconsin. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Story county and settled on a farm five miles north of this city, where they lived until they moved to Marshalltown, where the father in engaged in the real estate business.
The mother died on July 25, 1897, and since that time the care of the family has devolved largely on the daughter who has just passed away.
Besides the father the deceased is survived by three sisters and a brother. The eldest sister is Mrs. James Curtis of near this city, while the two younger ones are Misses Bessie and Edna who live at home. The one son, John H. also lives at home.
Miss McNichols was known as a model young lady. Home-loving and devoted to her church, she was known and admired by a large circle of acquaintances and loved by her family and near relatives and friends. The McNichols family have the united sympathy of their many friends in this city.
