Obituary of Harry F. Koons
Harry F. Koons was born July 17th 1868 at Fairview, Cumberland county, Penn. When seven years of age, he with his parents, moved to Illinois, where they lived until 1883. At that time they moved to Story county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On February 6, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Lulu McGaw. To this union three children were born, Howard, aged ten, Glen, four and Donald aged three years. In 1902 he moved his family to Kansas, where he engaged in farming until the beginning of the present year, when failing health forced him to leave his farm and take an overland trip to the west. This trip, however, did not bring about the desired effect. About the first of October, he with his family, returned to Ames, where he departed this life on December 12, 1906, at the home of his brother-in-law, Mr. F. E. Kooser. he leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, three children, three sisters and two brothers, besides a host of friends. The sisters are Mrs. F. E. Kooser, Mrs. W. A. Scott of Ames, and Mrs. Phil O'Neil of Colo, Iowa. The brothers are Elmer, of Ames, and George of Zearing. The funeral was conducted at the Christian church in Ames, Friday, at 11:00 a. m., by Rev. H. D. Williams, and the remains were laid to rest in the Ames cemetery.
