Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

James Calvin Anderson, 95, of rural Nevada died October 13, 2019 at Accura Healthcare of Ames. Funeral services will be Friday October 18 at 10:30 am at Christ Community Church in Ames. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at the Arlington Cemetery near Villisca, Iowa. Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the church.

Calvin was born on April 14, 1924 in Villisca, Iowa to James Dunn and Gladys (Forsythe) Anderson. After graduating from Villisca High School, he helped his father farm during WWII. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1946. He married Lorraine Law on February 11, 1951 and farmed with his father until 1961 when they moved to Atlantic, IA. He worked as an auditor for the Iowa Department of Revenue until retiring and then worked part time for the Lutheran Social Services group home. They moved to his son’s acreage in 1999 and worked part time for Friendship Ark of Ames. Calvin enjoyed gardening, his Men’s Bible Study, and his Sunday school class. His greatest joy was his family; especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, David (Joann Swisher) Anderson of Atlantic, IA and Duane (Lisa Hennesy) Anderson of rural Nevada; a daughter, Ruth Muller of Ames; his grandchildren (Ryan & Ranee Anderson, Anna & Jeff Lubow, Rachel & Brent Tisl, Joel & Michelle Anderson, Stephen & Keysha Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Laura Anderson, Lee Anderson, Mitchell Muller, Michelle Muller, Lorraine Muller, Melissa Muller, Robert Muller) and 17 great grandchildren.

Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine in 2009; his parents; three brothers, Hubert, John and Stanley and a sister, Alexa Gillette.
