Last Rites For Mrs. Ida Mason
Funeral services for Ida Mae Mason were held from the Ryan Funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. C. N. Swihart officiating.
Two songs were sung by Fred McClain accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson at the piano.
There were a large number of beautiful floral pieces surrounding the casket. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. C. E. Gore and Mrs. Belle Henrehan.
The casket bearers were Lee Corbin, Frank Harrison, Lee Hoel, Guy Selby, Chester Shalley and Ivan Shalley.
Burial was made in the Elwell cemetery.
Obituary
Mrs. Ida Mason was born at Phillipsburg, Kansas, July 20, 1882 and passed away at Story County hospital Friday, Jan. 9, 1953, at 1:15 p.m. following a stroke, at the age of 71 years, six months, 20 days. She had been ill for several years.
Daughter of George W. and Matilda Allen, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernest and Edward.
Her childhood was spent near Collins on a farm. On June 29, 1904 she was united in marriage to Walter Virgil Mason, of Ruthven, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband, Walter; five daughters, Mrs. Melvin Hall of Nevada, Mrs. Daniel Blasdell of Castle Rock, Wash., Mrs. Joe Pleshek, Scranton, Mrs. Edward Muzzy, Marshalltown, Mrs. Dale Sills, Nevada and a son Hilbert of Nevada, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive.
She moved to Nevada about 40 years ago.
Burial was at Elwell cemetery near her parents and brothers.
Out of Town
Those attending from out of town were Mrs. Bessie Sills, Mrs. and Mrs. Bob Anderson, Mrs. Dick Sills, Mrs. Vern McNiel all of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Brown of Panora, Mr. and Mrs. Zon Wolfe of Redfield, Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Muzzy of Chicago, Mrs. Keith Markley of Carroll.
