NATIVE MILFORD WOMAN IS DEAD
-----
BODY OF LUCY ALFRED-PEEPLES TO BE BROUGHT TO PLEASANT GROVE
------
Definite arrangements regarding the funeral and interment of Mrs. Lucy Alfred-Peeples, 55, former Milford township woman, who died at the U. S. Veterans hospital at Los Angeles, Wednesday, are not yet made, according to the brother, Charles Alfred, of Milford township.
While the time is not determined it is probable that the body will be brought back to Ames and interment will be in the Alfred Family lot, at Pleasant Grove cemetery.
The death of Mrs. Peeples, who served as an overseas nurse during the World War, was due to complications following an injury, sustained when she fell and fractured a hip a few months ago.
She had been in ill health for several years, however, and was the victim of a general cancerous condition which has puzzled her physicians.
Mrs. Peeples was well known in this community and more especially in Milford township. She was born on the old homestead in Milford township, June 23, 1878, her parents being George H. Alfred, pioneer settlers in Milford. She was overseas during the World War as an army nurse, and since the war had spent her summers in Ames and the winters in California, her health being impaired. She was married in California to Errat Peeples.
Besides her husband and brother, she also leaves a sister, Mrs. Eva Ball, of southeast of Ames. A niece, Mrs. Ruth McCoy, had been with her and assisted in her care.

----from the Nevada Evening Journal of August 18, 1933, front page. Lucy's stone at the Pleasant Grove cemetery does not include her married name - simply "Lucy Alfred".
