Mrs. Ruth M. Johnson, daughter of Gideon Wire and Alma Althea Southwick Wire was born at Cambridge, Iowa, May 31, 1871 and passed away at her home in Cambridge, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1941. She has been a resident of Cambridge and Story county her entire life.

On Nov. 8, 1888, she was united in marriage with Henry H. Johnson. Seven children were born to this union, five of whom survive. They are Howard J. Johnson, Cambridge, Ia.; Joseph H. Mrs. Johnson had just moved into her house in Cambridge on Monday. Tuesday morning she went outside and slipped on ice by the door, but did not think it was so serious. She was up an around until Thursday. She had been to see a doctor Wednesday but on Thursday took worse and passed away very suddenly Thursday evening at 9 o'clock. She had not been in good health but cause of her sudden death came as the result of a concussion received from the fall on Tuesday of the same week.

Words cannot express the grief felt by the family in this sudden departure of a beloved mother and the host of relatives and friends she leaves to mourn her loss.

The church was filled to capacity with those who came to pay their respects.
