Mrs. Anna Kloster, 94, Laid to Rest Friday In Fjeldberg Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Kloster, 84, who passed away Sunday morning, June 15, at 4:45 a.m. at the Woodland Nursing home in Seattle, Washington, were ehld Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley with Rev. Harold M. Rye, pastor of the church officiating. A short prayer service was held in the presence of close relatives at the church parlors at 1:45 o'clock.

The services at the church opened with a song "Only A Touch" by a ladies trio consisting of Mrs. Harold M. Rye, Mrs. E. D. Hall and Mrs. Cecil Henderson. Rev. Rye read the obituary and read the scripture using as his text Psalm 130, followed by a prayer.

A Norwegian solo, "O Tenk Noar Engang Samles, Skol" was sung by Ms. L. S. Kloster. This was one of the favorite hymns of the deceased. Rev. Rye preached the funeral sermon. His theme was from Genesis, 5th chapter, verse 24. "Beyond The Sunset" was sung by the trio at the close of the service.

Obituary

Mrs. Kloster was born on April 10th, 1858, near Lisbon, Illinois in Kendall county. Her parents were Severt E. and Kari Nass. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. P. A. Rasmusson.

She had one brother, A. E. Nass, who passed away March 3, 1942.

Together with her parents and he brother she moved from Illinois to Iowa when she was 6 1/2 years old, coming by train as far as Nevada. From there they crossed the prairie following mere trail towards Cambridge because there were no roads. They spent the first winter with friends while their home was built on a farm her father had purchased 3 1/2 miles southeast of Huxley. Here she spent her girlhood and attended the country schools of that day. She was in Des Moines a few years where he was employed until she was married and moved to Huxley. She lived there for 51 years before moving to Nevada on December 14, 1936. Here she lived for nine years before leaving for Seattle, Wash., Dec. 1, 1945, to make her home with her daughters and since October 25, 1950, she has been in a hospital. A few weeks ago she was moved to the Woodlands Nursing home whee she passed away.

On the 30th of May, 1884, she was united in marriage to Anders L. Kloster. To this union four children were born: Lars S. Kloster, who passed away June 21, 1947, Mrs. Carie Severeid and Mrs. Hilda Osa, both of Seattle, and Mrs. Sina Moran of Nevada. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives. Her husband, who was postmaster and merchant in Huxley for many years, passed away Nov. 25, 1915.

Mrs. Kloster was a charter member of the Fjeldberg Lutheran congregation, having also been present as a young girl at the organization meetings of the congregation. She was a member of this congregation until her death. She was confirmed in the Fjeldberg church by Rev. Ole A. Saver. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Cemetery association since their organization and until the time she left Huxley and was an active worker in former years.

The past several years her memory had failed her after he suffered some light strokes. Death was due to cerebral hemorrhage and old age. She was in coma from Friday night until death early Sunday morning. Although she had been bedfast most of the time the past 20 months, she was not suffering any but gradually grew weaker and her memory became more feeble. She reached an age of 94 years, two months and five days.

The floral tributes of esteem were beautiful and other friends and relatives gave donations to missions, Lutheran Welfare, church extension, Story City Sunset home, Children's Home at Ames, pension fund and the Fjeldberg building fund.

The flowes were arranged by Mrs. Ryan of Nevada.

Pall bearers were Clarence Hill, Tilden Fjelland, Ernest Fjelland, Andrew Wenos, Alfred Lande and Orland Berhow.

She was laid to rest beside her husband in the family lot in the Fjeldberg cemetery one mile south of Huxley.

Friends and relatives from a distance who were in attendance at the funeral were from Everett and Seattle, Wash., Minneapolis, Minn., Kanawha, Des Moines, Iowa City, Knoxville, Story City, Slater, Ames, Cambridge, Nevada, Alleman and Ogden.
