Williams Funeral Services Held at Collins U. B. Church

Collins, June 4--Funeral services for the late W. S. (Simon) Williams were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Collins United Brethren church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Lawrence Lee. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Anna Moses, Mrs. Milo Lauffer, Bradford Stevens and Milton Hale with Miss Donna Huntrods at the piano.

Pall bearers were W. A. Ketchel, Walter Brown, Wm. Crouch, John Thompson, J. F. Vasey and Chas. Waltz. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.

William Simon Williams, son of Julia and Jordon Williams, was born Sept. 20, 1862, near Competine, Wapello county, Iowa, and passed away May 26 1943 at the county home where he had been since in February. Death came at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 6 days.

He moved with his parents to Missouri when but a small boy, then moved back to Iowa on Sept. 28, 1896, residing in and near Collins since that time. He was never married and had made his home with his brother, A. O. Williams until the death of latter on Dec. 24, 1942.* He is survived by his two nieces, Mrs. Mary Bear of near Rhodes and Mrs. Pearl Pointer of Collins, besides cousins and distant relatives as well as a host of friends.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Simeon Williams is buried beside his brother, Alvis Oliver Williams, in the Collins Cemetery, Collins, Story County, Iowa. They share the same stone.
