Edward J. Billings Passed Away Thursday At Home in Nevada

Edward J. Billings, 69, blacksmith in Nevada for nearly 40 years passed away Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at his hoe, 424 Sixth Street. He had been bedfast for eight weeks but had been in declining health for the past two years.

Funeral services will be held at the Morfoot Funeral Home in Nevada Saturday afternoon at 10 a.m. with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Marshalltown.

Mr. Billings was born at Blanchardville, Wis. Oct. 16, 1875, a son of Walter and Ann Billings. He lived in Marshalltown as a young man and was married there to Emma Bruce.* This couple celebrated their forty-seventh wedding anniversary last July.

Before coming to Nevada the Billings home was in Zearing for a time.

The deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: Roy Billings of Birmingham, Ala.; Lois Heiner, now on her way to the west coast; Helen Peterson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Earl Billings of Des Mones and Mrs. Ruth Glasgow of Iowa Center.

He also leaves five grandchildren Shirley, Donna and Ronald Glasgow and Helen and Jerry Billings, the latter of Des Moines.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Edward J. Billings married Emma J. Brace (not Bruce as stated) on 8 July 1897 in Marshall County, Iowa.
