Funeral Services Held on Monday for Albert Anderson

Special to the Journal.
Gilbert, Aug. 6--Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Gilbert on Monday for Albert Anderson, 69, who died at his home here Friday, July 31, at 4:45 a. m. The service was in charge of Rev. T. T. Heimarck of Story City and the interment was in the St. Petri cemetery, north of Gilbert.

Death of this Gilbert pioneer was due to cancer and heart trouble, after an illness of several months but he had been confined to his bed but a week.

Mr. Anderson was a native of Lincoppin, Sweden, where he was born August 17, 1867.

He came to America when a lad of 12 years and the family located at Ames. He grew to manhood there and wen to work for the Northwestern Railway company when a young man. He moved to Gilbert March 1, 1901 and became a section foreman for the company and continued in that capacity until his illness caused him to retire from active work. His employment with the company totaled over 50 years.

His wife* died a few years ago and he is survived by his sons Fred and Floyd of Gilbert, Henry of Ames, Edward of Chelsea and Morris of Randall and daughters Mrs. Arthur Mortvedt of Gilbert and Mrs. Fred Wheeler of Ames.

He also leaves brothers John Anderson of Mason City, Charles Anderson of Ames, a sister Mrs. C. J. Anderson of Ames, and 24 grand children and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson was a man well known and held in highest of regard in the community in which he had lived a quarter of century, as well as by the company which he had been employed for over half a century.
