Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Josefina Bustamante, age 72, of Ames, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her home in Ames.

Born on February 7, 1947 in Del Rio, Texas, Josefina was the daughter of Federico and Lorenza (Rodriguez) Rodriguez. She attended school in Del Rio through the 7th grade. Josefina was united in marriage to Jose Bustamante on October 15, 1962 in Del Rio, Texas. After their marriage, she was a homemaker. Together they moved to Minnesota, where they lived from 1988 to 1993. The couple moved to Ames in 1993. She enjoyed frequent trips to the Casino, where she would play the Turtle slot machines that she considered her machines. Josefina would watch her Soap Operas daily and call her grandchildren to update them about what happened that day. She enjoyed cooking, completing crossword puzzles, and coloring with her grandchildren. Josefina loved her family and especially enjoyed “scolding Grandpa”.

Josefina is survived by her husband, Jose, Sr.; her children: Maria (Miguel) Chavez of Ames, Jose Bustamante, Jr. of Owatonna, Minnesota, Jesus Bustamante of Ames, and Diana Bustamante of Ames; her grandchildren: Brenda Soliz, Crystal Bustamante, Gloria Bustamante, Luis Soliz, Corina Bustamante, Juan A. Soliz, Jacob Joesting, Gavin Joesting, Michael A. Soliz, and Jordan Joesting; two great-grandchildren, Blayne and Rylen Joesting; and two brothers: Federico (Rosa) Rodriguez and Victor (Josefina) Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the Adams Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.adamssoderstrum.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
