DEATH AT STATE CENTER.

Mrs. C. H. Campbell Succumbs to Heart Failure.

State Center, April 24.--This community was shocked on Monday when the news spread about that Nancy E. Campbell, wife of a well known retired farmer had succumbed to heart failure, having passed away while her husband was away from the house but a short time. Mr. Campbell had gone down town on an errand, leaving the wife in what was apparently her usual health and when he returned an hour or so later, he found her dead.

The deceased, who was born at Dunlap, Tenn., Sept. 28, 1835, became the wife of Mr. Campbell Aug. 28, 1856, and came to this country in an early day, settling in Timber Creek township something like fifty years ago. For several years the couple lived on a farm near Lamoille, later moved to LeMars, and lived there and near Templeton, in Carroll county, for several years. They returned to this county and settled in Rhodes, and went from there to State Center two years ago.

Aside from her husband Mrs. Campbell is survived by one son, George E. Campbell, who arrived home Sunday morning from a three week stay in Texas, and came to this city Sunday evening. Efforts were made through friends here to convey to the son the news of his mother's death. Mrs. Campbell had two daughters and one other son who are dead.

Surviving her in her father's family are one brother and two sisters, Rufus Dunlap, who lives near Luray; Mrs. John Whaley, residing southeast of Lamoille; and Mrs. James Tillman. The late Columbus Dunlap, who formerly lived on a farm near Laurel, and the late Thomas Dunlap, of Luray; were brothers.
