Obituary for Terry TP Dale Pettit

Terry Pettit “TP”, 71, of Story City passed away June 20, 2019 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Graveside services will be Tuesday June 25 at 3 pm at the Story City Cemetery and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Tuesday at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

TP was born on May 5, 1948 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Harry and Beulah (Dayton) Pettit. He married Connie Henrichs on July 1, 1967; she passed away June 11, 1993. He worked in construction and then as a mechanic at Manatts. TP and Connie moved to Story City in 1969 and he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, where he was finance officer and started the kumla suppers. TP enjoyed camping, gardening, his Harley motorcycle, hunting, fishing, working on cars reading, going to the rodeo and modified stock car racing.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kristyi (Steve) Luppes of Blairsburg and Karla (Steve) Webb of Roland; a son, Kerry (Tasha) Pettit of Jewell; five grandchildren, Abby, Arynn, Aiden, Gaige and Zander; his sister, Teresa Reck of Dixon, MO; his special companion, Janet Mitchell and her family, son, Brian (Tammy) Bridwell of Story City; her daughter, Laura Bridwell of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Devin, Jessie, Ryley and Pierce; her great grandson, Jaxton and his special furry companions Spook and Miller.

TP was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie and brother, Tom Pettit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sons on the American Legion in Story City.
