Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Ruth Irene Grove, 87, of rural Madrid died June 16, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Saturday June 22 at 10:30 am at the Slater United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Sheldahl Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 at the Slater United Methodist Church.

Ruth was born on August 21, 1931 in Anamosa, Iowa to Grant and Gladys (Bender) Brickley. She graduated from Vinton High School in 1949 and from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She married Roger Grove on March 2, 1957 in Vinton, Iowa. Ruth was an active member of the Sheldahl United Methodist Church and enjoyed counted cross stitching, playing cards, cheering on her Chicago Cubs on tv and living on the farm. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Roger of rural Madrid, IA; her five children, Sue Mortensen (Rich) of Griswold, IA, Deborah Reinhart (Gary) of Slater, IA, Clint Grove (Denise) of Indianola, IA, Jim Grove (Paula) Grimes, IA and Barb Rampton (Lance) of rural Madrid, IA; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents and three brothers, Don, Alvin and Vernon Brickley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheldahl United Methodist Church.
