MANY ATTEND BOYD FUNERAL

Roland People at Story City for Last Rites

Roland, April 16--A large crowd from here attended the funeral services for the late Meyer Boyd at the Immanuel church at Story City Friday afternoon. The services were in charge of Roland Post No. 307 and also the Story City American Legion Post. He was laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. Meyer Boyd the youngest son of Mrs. K. P. Boyd of Story City was born at the Boyd homestead southwest of town on June 15, 1896. He attended the rural schools and was student at Ellsworth college, Iowa Falls for two years. He served in the World War enlisting in 1918. After his return he engaged in farming for a year and sold his farming interest eight years ago and went to Coquille, Oregon. He attended the University at Los Angeles for two years. After his return to Coquille he purchased half interest in his brother-in-law's E. H. Harnden's dairy farm. When Harndens returned to Story City several years ago he worked at a logging camp. He was on his way home at the time of his sudden death, driving his car overland. He was a charter member of Roland Post No. 307 and continued to pay his dues here each year.

He leaves to mourn his sad death his aged mother, Mrs. K. P. Boyd of Story City, three brothers, Arthur, Alfred and Henry Boyd of Story City and five sisters Mrs. Carrie Harnden of Story City, Mrs. Clarence Larson of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Severt Hammersland of Clear Lake, Mrs. S. J. Michaelson and Mrs. Albert Eggland of this place besides a large number of other relatives. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved family.
