OBITUARIES

LaVona M. Cairns
Dec. 7, 1906-June 20, 1990

LaVona M. Cairns, 83, of Madrid died June 20 of congestive heart failure at the Madrid Home.

She was born in Des Moines to Herman J. and Annah Auestad. She taught at Bondurant School District before she married Harry C. Cairns in Des Moines on Feb. 22, 1929, and moved to Cambridge. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, and Cambridge Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Gloria A. Herrold of Cambridge; two sons, Bruce D. Cairns of Cambridge and Harry C. Cairns of Milton, Fla.; one sister, Geraldine Newman of Sonoma, Calif.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held June 22 at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell. Services were June 23 at Cambridge Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Cambridge Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Madrid Home or Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department.
