Final Rites For Pioneer Of The Maxwell Neighborhood

Maxwell, Feb. 21--Funeral services for Frank Elsworth Wade were held Saturday afternoon in the Iowa Center church. The services were in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill assisted by Rev. H. G. Darling. A quartette composed of Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Van Busenberg, George Dunbar and Gerton N. Nelson sang "Going Down the Valley," "Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me," with Mrs. Nelson at the organ. Casket bearers were Roland Coughenour, Glen Robertson, F. M. Boster and Forest, Theodore and Cecil Kitchen. The minister read the following life sketch Frank Elsworth Wade was born September 10, 1866 at Plymought, Wis. and passed from this life February 12, 1942 at Maxwell, Ia. He was one of the thirteen children of Nathan and Cathryn Ann Wade. There are four children of this family still living, Charles Wade of Collins, Mrs. John Nowning of Sioux Rapids, Mrs. Loving Vincent of Maxwell and James Wade of Beloit, Wis. Mr. Wade came to tory county about 50 years ago and located northeast of Iowa Center and has been a resident of this community and Maxwell since that time. Frank and Rowena Vincent were united in marriage in 1895. Mrs. Vincent's two children, the present Mrs. Altha Wade and Ernie Vincent, gained a devoted stepfather in this marriage. Rowena Vincent passed away May 19, 1916. Mr. Wade and Florence McIntyre were married February 15, 1922 at Sioux Rapids. In the union he became stepfather to four boys, Verl, Everette, Carl and Lloyd McIntyre. Though Frank had no children of his own he has been a father to five sons and one daughter. He has been ill the past 2 years but only seriously ill and bedfast for about 3 weeks. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, six step-children, two brothers and two sisters, a number of nephews and nieces besides other relatives and friends. Burial was made in the family lot in the Iowa Center cemetery.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Frank Elsworth Wade married (1) Rowena (Willhide) Vincent on 11 December 1894 in Nevada, Story County, Iowa. He married (2) Florence (Sutton) McIntyre on 15 February 1922 in Sioux Rapids, Clay County, Iowa.
