Two Funerals Held At Roland Last Week

Special to the Journal.
Roland, Feb. 13--The funeral services for the later Mrs. Johnson who passed away at her home west of town on Saturday, February 4, were held at Bergen's church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. M. O. Sumstad. Mrs. Johnson whose maiden name was Anna Wagner was born at Glesvaagen, Norway on February 27, 1869. She came to America in 1894 coming to Huxley, Iowa. She was married to John J. Johnson on February 18, 1901 and three children were born to them, a daughter Gertrude dying in infancy and two sons, Gaylord who was killed in an automobile accident January 30, 1927, and Lloyd who lives east to town. Her husband died July 6, 1927. She is also survived by two step-children, Mrs. Arthur Commack [sic] of Lakefield, Minn. and Henry J. Johnson of Philadelphia and three sisters Mrs. H. C. Nessa of Forest City, Mrs. P. Danilson of Egbert, Wyo., and Mrs. P. Peterson of Mansfield, S. D., an one brother Sten Wagner of Lake Mills and by four grandchildren.

Andrew J. Raymond

The funeral services for the late Andrew J. Raymond who met such a tragic death last Saturday were held at Salem's church Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. O. Holen. The deceased was born in Lisbon, Ill., June 20, 1862. He came to Iowa when three years of age, coming with his parents in a covered wagon. he was married to Ellen J. Hoversten August 13, 1898. She passed away in 1924. Three children were born to them Julia, Josiah and Bertha. He is also survived by three sisters Julia Raymond of Des Moines, Mrs. Annie Jorstead of St. James, Minn., and Mrs. Ellen Holm of Rembrandt.
