Ole V. Olsen Laid To Rest After Funeral Services at McCallsburg

Special to the Journal:
McCallsburg, Aug. 11--Ole V. Olson, son of Ole W. and Metta Olson, was born near Stavanger, Norway January 25, 1871 and passed away at the Nevada sanitarium where he had been cared for for eight days, on August 4, 1938, at the age of 67 years, six months and ten days.

Mr. Olson came to America with the family in 1882 an settled in La Salle county, Ill. In 1893 the family came to Iowa and located on a farm four miles southwest of McCallsburg. Mr. Olson was for a number of years engaged in the livery business and also the restaurant business in McCallsburg.

In 1907 he was married to Miss Bertha Malmin and then went to farming three miles north west of here where he continued until his health failed him ten years ago.

He is survived by his wife and four children: Corelia (Mrs. Wallace Anderson) of Forest City; Obed, Maynard and Malmin Olson of this place.

His parents passed away some years ago and he is mourned by his family as well as by two brothers, Andrew and J. Morgan Olson of McCallsburg and two sisters, Mrs. F. C. Jorstad of McCallsburg and Mrs. Chas. Sundean of Boone. There are two grandchildren, Elaine and Wallace Jr. Anderson.

The funeral was held Sunday, August 7, from the Bethany Lutheran church in McCallsburg and in spite of the heat, a large number of people were in attendance. There were several beautiful bouquets of flowers and several gifts of money for missions.

Mesdames O. E. Ritland and Berger Imsland sang two songs "Face to Face With Christ, My Savior" and "Sometimes I'm Homesick for Heaven," accompanied by Mrs. John Heland Mrs. O. E. Ritland played before and after the services.

The pallbearers were Oscar Jacobson, Wm. Tjelmeland, Berger Imsland, Charlie Christian, Jacob Hill and Clarence Osmundson. The remains were laid to rest in the Warren township cemetery.

Out of town people in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Ole Aske of Garner, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sunden of Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Anderson and family of Forest City, Torres Nerim, Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Pearson of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Evanson Roland.
