Mrs. Walter Conder Laid to Rest In Nevada Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Conder, who passed away at her home in Richland township, were held Sunday afternoon at the St. Paul Lutheran church at Fernald, of which community she had been a long time resident. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, who died in 1927.

Anna Grace Hotsenpiller, daughter of William and Frances Hotsenpiller was born near Lexington, Ill., Dec. 12, 1866. She was united in marriage to Walter Conder, Feb. 15, 1888 at Lexington, Ill. To this union were born four children, Elmo and Elza, now at home; Frances, now Mrs. Harry New; Maude, now Mrs. Leslie Toot of near Nevada.

In her early girlhood she united with the Methodist church at Lexington, Ill. After moving to Iowa, she transferred her membership to the St. Paul's Lutheran church at Fernald.

Mr. and Mrs. Conder came to Iowa in March, 1892, and settled on a farm east of Nevada which has been her home for over a period of 47 years. Mr. Conder passed away on Aug. 6, 1927. Since his going Mrs. Conder and her sons have lived in the Conder home east of Nevada. It was here that Mrs. Conder was called by death last Thursday night Nov. 16, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Mrs. Conder leaves also one sister, Mrs. Geo. Randle of Kansas City, Kan., and two brothers, William and Charles Hotsenpiller of Acme, Alberta, Canada. These brothers were unable to be at the funeral.

Mrs. Conder also leaves five grandchildren. They are Frances, Delmar, Virginia and Harriet Toot and Willis New.

Mrs. Conder took the greatest delight in her grandchildren. It was for them that she lived and they were always in her thoughts.

The love of her continued days was ever manifest toward these young, developing souls, and it was the prayer of her life to the very end that God's kindly providence might be manifest in them to the greatest measure. Her kindly thoughts of her own family, her repeated deeds of helpfulness, were the constant expression of her love for her very own. It is here inn the family home that Mrs. Conder has lived over a long span of years.

She has seen neighbors come and neighbors go. She has lived among them, revealing a neighborly spirit, ready to help, willing to serve as occasions demanded. With her passing one of the oldest members of the community in point of years spent here, has been removed from this neighborly circle. A large circle of friends and neighbors extend to these sorrowing one their heartfelt sympathy in this hour of bereavement. Relatives and friends from a distance here for the funeral services were Mrs. Geo. Randle, George Randle, Jr., and sons Ronnie and Norman of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Emza Samson and son Kenneth of Luther; Mrs. Mildred Ballard of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Kuhn, Rodman; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mayhew of Varina; Gene Van Horn and daughter Grace of Rodman; Mrs. Cora Strickland and Mrs. Rhoda Conder of Lexington, Ill., and also friends from Colo, Collins, Maxwell and Zearing.
