OBITUARY

Nathaniel Applegate Cole died at his home in Grant township yesterday afternoon, Feb. 18, 1920. He suffered a paralytic stroke Sunday, Feb. 8th which terminate fatally as above. Mr. Cole was born in Bureau county, Illinois, and was 76 years old at the time of his demise. He came to Iowa, Story county, on May 12, 1855, and maintained his home here in Grant township during the remaining years of his life. He was a soldier of the Union army during the Civil War, enlisting from Story county in the 32nd infantry regiment. He was also a member of the Jason D. Ferguson G. A. R. Post, Nevada, and is the fifth member of that patriotic organization to die since last August. He was a member of the Christian denomination in his religious affilliations and he was in all respects an exemplary an patriotic citizen. The surviving member of his family are, his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Cole*, and his three sons, Oscar J., Alfred R. and John L. Cole. The funeral will be held Friday at 2:00 p. m., at the home residence an conducted by the Rev. Knowles of this city. The burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
