WILLIAM W. LOOMIS

William W. Loomis was born in Chicago, March 10, 1853 and stayed there til reaching the age of 17 when he removed to Nebraska. At the age of twenty years he first came to Iowa making his home in Des Moines where he was for many years connected with the Rock Island Railroad, rising in the ranks till he attained the position of Division Freight agent. It was while engaged in this work that he met his wife, Miss Pollie A. Depew whom he married in 1875. By this union there was one child, Mrs. H. B. Craddick who survives Mr. Loomis with her mother.

In 1901 Mr. Loomis established his home in Nevada, where he was engaged in the coal and ice business for about ten years selling out finally to McConkie and Case and removing from here to Fairbault, Minn. and two years later to Minneapolis where he has lived since. For the past six years Mr. Loomis was associated in the business in Minneapolis with his son-in-law, H. B. Craddick.

He was in poor health only three weeks before his death, but was able to be up and about each day, attending to all his business engagements till tow days before his sudden taking away, which was due to apoplexy.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 16th at Lakewood chapel and interment was in the Lakewood cemetery at Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Addison and Mr. and Mrs. George C. White of Nevada attended the services.
