Funeral Services for Mrs. Bertha Dahl

Huxley, July 18--Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Dahl who died at the home of her sister Mrs. Gertie Richardson north of town, on Thursday, were held on Sunday afternoon with Rev. W. B. Scarvie of Story City temporary pastor, in charge. He used the English language and was assisted by Rev. E. R. Rorem of Slater who spoke the Norwegian language. There was a brief service at house at 2:30 and at the Fjeldberg church at 3 o'clock. The song "I know of a Sleep in Jesus Name" was rendered by the choir, and there was a vocal solo, "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se" by Mrs. L. S. Kloster of Des Moines. There were many beautiful floral offerings from relatives and friends. Mrs. Albert Wenos had charge of the flowers.

The pall bearers were Randall Thompson, Hartwick Siverson, Chester Dueland, Lawrence Helland, Arthur La Bland, and Charlie Ryan. Interment was in the Fjeldberg cemetery.

Mrs. Bertha Dahl was born on January 18, 1950 at Entvedt Bergen Stift, Norway of parents Ingeborg and Elias Rullestad. She as confirmed in the Lutheran church at Skaanevik, Norway.

She sailed to America with her parents in the year 1868. She resided near Morris, Illinois, for a few years, after which she came to Iowa where she was at home with her parents. In 1884 she was united in marriage to Gustav Dahl.

Mr. and Mrs. Dahl moved to Lake Preston, S. Dak. Her husband died August 4, 1914 and was laid to rest in the Lake Preston cemetery. They were members of the Lake Preston Lutheran church.

Mrs. Dahl moved back to Iowa and has made her home with her sister Mrs. Gertie Richardson where the two have had a blessed christian home together. Her parents were both laid to rest in the Fjeldberg cemetery.

She leaves to mourn her departure three sisters, they are: Mrs. Walter Ford of Coombs, B. C., Vancouver Island, Mrs. Andrew Erickson, Newell, South Dakota and Mrs. Gertie Richardson of Huxley, Iowa. Two brothers and a sister have preceded her in death. Also, she leaves a host of other relatives and friends. She was a devoted christian, willing to help and serve others Loved by all her relatives and friends.

She died July 13th, 1933 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 25 day.--Blessed be her memory.
