George W. Setzer
January 1, 1918, to Nov. 24, 1994

George W. Setzer, 76, of Nevada died of cancer at Story County Hospital, Nevada.

He was born to John and Opal (Link) Setzer on a farm southeast of Collins.

On Nov. 7, 1942, he married Jane Glasgow in Des Moines. He had been a resident of Nevada for the past 35 years, having moved from Maxwell. A graduate of Maxwell High School, he had been employed by Story County as a road grader operator, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church, and enjoyed bowling, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Nevada; two sons: Jon Setzer of Littleton, Colo., and Tom Setzer of Chandler, Ariz.; two half-brothers: Christ George of Odessa, Texas, and Tom George of Hobbs, N.M.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Delores Nolan.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at Nevada United Methodist Church, Nevada, with Rev. James King officiating. Burial was in Nevada Municipal Cemetery, Nevada.

A memorial fund has been established.

Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, was in charge of arrangements.
