Mrs. Laura Bateman Dies Early Today

Mrs. Laura Bateman, 91, widow of John Wesley Bateman, died at 12:15 today in the Youngs Nursing Home in Ames. Death was due to her advanced age and complications. She had been ill the past four years.

Mrs. Bateman was born in Franklin county, Ill. Oct 3, 1863, and was married August 1880 to John Wesley Bateman in Illinois. They came to Story County Feb. 1894.

Funeral services will be held from the Adams Chapel in Ames, Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Pinnell of the Ames First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased is survived by four sons, Allie of San Francisco, Frank of Woodland, Calif., Ralph of Sacramento, Calif. and Robert of Woilland, Wyo.; three daughters surviving are Mrs. Lottie Hurd of Bedford, Ore., Ethel Warren and Mrs. Lucy Banks of Ames. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
