Funeral Services For Mabel Tucker Held Monday

Funeral services for Mabel Grace Tucker, 49, who died at Iowa sanitarium here Saturday following a major operation, were held Monday afternoon at the Lilly Funeral home with Rev. C. V. Pence of the Nevada Church of Christ in charge and Mrs. Pence at the organ furnishing the music. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The pallbearers were from the membership of Central Iowa Lodge No. 104 I. O. O. F., Guy D. French, Will N. Farrington, Bradford Dial, George L. Patterson, Ivan Paulson and E. B. Ayers.

The large funeral chapel was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends, as well as large numbers of the Rebekah and Odd Fellows lodges. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.

During the service, following the reading of a brief life sketch of the deceased, the officiating minister read a favorite poem of the deceased--one that was found in her purse--well worn from frequent readings and study.

Mrs. Tucker was a member of the Church of Christ and for many years had been a member of, and active in the work of the Daughters of the Rebekah.

Born in the community and living here practically all of her life, she had a wide circle of very warm friends who respected her for her many sterling qualities.

She was a woman of fine personality, one of energy and industry, kind and thoughtful to all and especially helpful to the member of her family. Her manner of meeting the public was happy and pleasing and her death will be deeply mourned by a wide circle of friends, as well as by members of her family.

The following brief life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister:

"Mrs. Mable Tucker was on of sixteen children of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Corbin. Mable was born Nov. 25, 1890 and passed away on to the higher life Oct. 26, being 49 years, 4 months and one day of age. She was united in marriage to Roy Tucker, May 31, 1911, and they made their home in Nevada for many years during which time they were engaged in business here. While no children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Tucker, they raised three nieces in their home, they now being Mrs. Jean Harmon, Maxwell; Mrs. Robert Arnold, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Mrs. Lavon Richardson, Nevada.

"Beside her former husband and these three foster daughters, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ella Corbin, Nevada; five brothers: Lloyd, Lee, Hugh and Harold Corbin of Nevadda and Orville Corbin of Ames; and sisters: Mrs. Ella Willikinson, Mrs. Floyd Baldus, Mrs. Ringenberg and Laura Corbin, all of Nevada, Mrs. Fay Baldus, Grand Meado, Minn.; Mrs. Albert Davison, Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Frank Mattingly, Gilbert, and Mrs. Eva Baldus, Story City.

"Mrs. Tucker was a member of the Rebecca lodge, Nevada. In early womanhood she united the Church of Christ, Nevada.
