Funeral Service for Mrs. Margaret Switzer

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Switzer who died at the Odd Fellow and Rebekah home at Mason City Sunday were held at the Bishop Funeral home here Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge. Burial as in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband who died a few years ago.

Margaret Ann Switzer, daughter of George S. and Christina Bickle was born at Goshen, Indiana, December 1, 1854, departed this life at I.O.O.F. home at Mason City, at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, August 6, 1939, age 84 years, 8 months and 5 days.

While a young girl, with her parents, she came to Iowa, the family settling near Indianola. They lived there for several years then moved to Des Moines, and later to Nevada, where her husband preceded her in death, February 16, 1932.

She was united in marriage October 22, 1875, to Samuel H. Switzer. To this union were born four children, Dora, Henry, William E. and the new M. C. McGiffert. Dora and Henry preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her death, William E. Switzer of Indianola, Mrs. M. C. McGiffert of Chicago, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

When a young woman she gave her life to Christ and united with the Methodist church and lived secure in that faith until death.

Relatives and friends here from a distance for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Switzer of Indianola, Mrs. A. M. Bloxton of Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Switzer, Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Van Baalan, Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eisenlauer and daughter Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Eisenlauer and son Dickie, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eisenlauer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pederson, Mrs. Mutchler, Mrs. Robert Cook and daughter Pearl and Mrs. J. G. Heidt, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. E. G. Brennen and son James of Marshalltown.
