Services Tues. in Nevada for Harold F. Smith

Harold F. Smith, 69, 923 13th St., Nevada, died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames Saturday evening a short time after being admitted.

Mr. Smith was stricken while at Madrid Saturday, was later taken to Story County Hospital, and then transferred to Mary Greeley for emergency surgery to repair a ruptured large artery.

A native of Russell County, Kansas, he was the son of Arron M. and Dora Sith. He was married to Lillian Davis July 8, 1930 in Iola, Kansas. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine, Scottish Rite, and the Epicopal Church.

Mr. Smith was a newspaperman most of his working life. He worked on newspapers in Kansas and later for the Webster City (Iowa) Freeman Journal. Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to Nevada in 1961 and he served as advertising manager in the Evening Journal until 1965. For the past several month he had been working part time for the Ames Advertiser.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister.

Funeral services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a. m. with the Rev. Elliot Blackborn officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife Lillian and a daughter, Marganna Sue.
