Services Held Saturday For Mrs. Nellie Shalley
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie R. Shalley, 408 F avenue, Nevada, who died Wednesday, April 25 in Story County Hospital, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. James W. Dendler of the Nevada Methodist church, officiating.
Mrs. Norman Dobson, organist, played a number of selections before and after the service.
The casket bearers were Wayne Babbitt, William Geisler, Harold Holder, Robert McKim, Richard McKim and A. J. Miner.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Nellie Ray Shalley was born in Nevada May 22, 1877 to George W. and Sarah Ann Halley. She was married on Dec. 31, 1897 at Morrison, Ill. Five children were born to this union. One son, Leal, died in infancy. Four daughters, Marie (Mrs. Ralph Carstens), Leota Emerson, Gladys Smart and Ilo Shalley survive.
She was a member of the Nevada Methodist church. She had spent her entire life in Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, a grandson and one sister.
Two granddaughters, Wilma Emerson and Dolores McFadden, and one niece, Nellie Ball, also survive.
Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral services were Emil Trott of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shalley of Marshalltown, and Nellie Ball of Iowa City.
