LAVERNE SANSGAARD

Funeral services for LaVerne Eugene Sansgaard, 55, of Des Moines were held Monday, Dec. 8, 1980 at Zion Lutheran Church, Des Moines, with Pastor Jerry Oliver in charge. Eileen Clausen, soloist, sang "How Great Thou Art," and "The Lord's Prayer."

Burial was in the Story City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Sansgaard, David Sansgaard, Steve Sansgaard, Harold Sternberg, Chris Fath and Robert Johnson.

LaVerne Sansgaard was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Boone County, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Alma Sansgaard. He graduated from Randall High School and was veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

On Oct. 1, 1950, he married Irene DuBois. The couple had two children.

Mr. Sansgaard was employed as a maintenance foreman at Merle Hay Mall and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son Donald of Atlantic; daughter, Suzanne Peterson of Urbandale; one granddaughter; his mother, Alma Sansgaard of Story City; a brother, Lowell Sansgaard of Boone; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Donald.
