Former resident succumbs while on his vacation

A former Story City resident Selmer K. Sansgaard, 74, now of Kiester, Minn., died Friday of a heart attack. He and his wife were vacationing in Coolidge, Minn. at the time of his death.

He had been a resident of Kiester for the past 12 years, after having formerly farmed northwest of Story City and having also managed the Rosendale store northwest of Story City.

Survivors include his wife Olive of Keister; four daughters, Mrs. Lorene Larson of Story City, Eunice Sansgaard, Burbank, Calif., Mrs. Stella Coffey, Clinton, Md. and Mrs. Erma Jean Brown of Columbia, Mo.; two stepsons, Larry Duncan, Indianola, and Joe Dundan of Kiester, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. One brother, Sverdrop Sansgaard of Story City and one sister, Mrs. Ella Hoversten of Glendale, Calif. also survive.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Anna; second wife, Mabel; one daughter and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 17 at the St. Paul's Lutheran church, northwest of Story City. Rev. Enoch Hall will conduct the 2 p.m. services.

Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran church cemetery.

Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home of Story City is making the funeral arrangements.
