Mrs. Mary Prescott Funeral Services Are Held Friday
Mrs. Mary Prescott was born June 22, 2868 in Stavanger, Norway, the daughter of Ole and Catherine Peterson Simonson. She came to the United States when she was very small.
Mrs. Prescott died Monday, Oct. 2, 1961, at the Story County Hospital, where she had been a patient just two days. She was 93 years old. Death was due to pneumonia.
She was married in 1889 to Ole K. Prescott in Story County where they farmed for a number of years.
They were the parents of eight children, six boys and two girls. Two of the sons, John and Annas, preceded her in death. Surviving are: Oscar of Vinton, Elmer and Tom of Nevada, Marion of Des Moines, and two daughters, Mrs. J. G. (Amy) Gleason of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs. A. T. (Edna) Anfinson of Nevada. She also leaves twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her husband died in 1909.
Mrs. Prescott was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church.
Funeral Services
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Prescott were held at the Memorial Lutheran Church, Friday, Oct. 6 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Victor Hackbarth officiating.
Allen Anderson, soloist, sang two songs, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus." He was accompanied on the organ by Leslie Henderson.
The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Herbert Shearman and Mrs. Martin Carsrud.
Casked bearers were Earl Prescott, Harold Prescott, Ray Prescott, Roy Prescott, Robert Prescott and Danny Prescott.
Burial was in the Roland cemetery.
