Funeral Rites For Mrs. M. T. Nessa, 99, Held In Garden City

Mrs. M. T. Nessa of Garden City whose death occurred recently, mother of T. A. Nessa, R1, Nevada, & Nels Inger, Margaret and Bertha of Garden City, had she lived until June 6, 1955, would have reached the age of 100 years.

When she was 85 years of age, she had fallen and broken her hip, and had been an invalid for 15 years. Her death occurred March 23.

Mrs. Nessas came to this country from Norway in 1880 to the home of her sister, Mrs. Nels Waugh in Roland. That same year she was married in Roland to Michael T. Nessa. They established their home north of Roland where they lived for about 11 years after which they moved to Garden City and in that community, with the exception of nine years in Forest City, she spent the remainder of her life.

Funeral services were held at the home in Garden City and the Stavanger Lutheran of which she was a charter member Sunday, March 27 with Rev. A. L. Kvamme officiating. Burial was in the Roland cemetery.

The pall bearers were Milo, Orville, Arlan, Norman, Milford and Meline Nessa, all grandsons of deceased.

Mrs. Nessa was born June 6, 1855 at Fana, Bergen Norway.

Relatives and friends in attendance at the last rites were from Riverdale, Calif., Chicago, Ill., Blue Earth, Minn., Collins, Thor, Thompson, Algona, Forest City, St. Anthony, Nevada, Jewell, Story City, Ames, Zearing, Des Moines, Waterloo, Roland, Ellsworth Hubbard, Radcliffe, Garden City and McCallsburg.

In addition to the sons and daughters already named, Mrs. Nessa is survived by nine grand children and 16 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nessa was granted a life membership in the Ebenezer Old People's Home in Minneapolis as the result of her interest in that institution. She was also a life sponsor of the WCAL radio station having been a regular listener to the Norwegian Sunday morning services during her many years of invalidism. She held a life membership in the Missionary Federation of the Stavanger Lutheran church.
