Story City, Feb. 22--Sven J. Nessa, 69, longtime railroad man died at his home in Story City Saturday evening, after a long illness. He had suffered from a stroke some time ago from which he had apparently well recovered but a week ago he suffered another which has the cause of his death.

Funeral rites will be held here Tuesday, with prayer at the home at 1:30 and the funeral services at the St. Petri church at 2:00, with Rev. S. T. Nelson in charge. Burial will be in the Story City cemetery.

He was born in Nerstrand, Norway, August 29, 1874, and came to America with his parents in 1883 when they located at McCallsburg. Soon afterwards the mother died and Sven was brought up by his father, being the only child.

He became a student of telegraphy at Roland and in 1897 began his work as agent at Zearing, on the M. & St. L., then known as the Iowa Central.

His work continued for over 44 years, the most of the time being with the M. & St. L., although he had held offices at Nevada and Garden City on the Rock Island. He came to Story City as agent for the M. & St. L. in 1910 and continued until January 15, 1942.

He had served as agent in Zearing, Story City, Nevada, Garden City, Steamboat Rock, Latimer, and Chapin, finally landing at Story City in 1910.

He was united in marriage to Ellen Mateson at Roland in 1902, and is survived by his wife and three daughters, they being Mrs. L. T. Frost of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Raymond Kammin of Story City and Mrs. G. H. Foster of Ames.
