Former Resident Dies in Rest Home in DM on Tuesday

Mrs. Lulu Kempkes, a former Nevada resident, died at the West View convalescence Home in Des Moines Tuesday evening at 10. She had been ill for two years.

Mrs. Kempkes, 80, was born March 30, 1882, the daughter of David and Helen Vinje of Nevada. She was a resident of Story County for nearly her entire lifetime.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, David Kempkes of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; a daughters Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Dolk of Des Moines; two grandchildren, one brother, Arthur J. Vinje of Pasadena, Calif.; and a sister Miss Helen Vinje of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira R. Kempkes on June 25, 1959.

Funeral services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. James Dendler officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
