Obituary Of Mrs. Ora Jackson

STORY CITY -- Funeral rites for Mrs. Ora Jackson were held on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, at 2 o'clock in St. Petri Lutheran church. A prayer service in the Jackson home preceded the church service. The Rev. Ocee Johnson officiated. Soloists at the church were Mr. and Mrs. Truman Quam who sang "Only a Touch," before the service and "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross" at the close of the service. Mr. Max Nordyke of Ames sang "Shadows" and Mrs. and Mrs. Nordyke sang "Ivory Palaces." Mrs. Robert Hermanson was organist.

Mrs. Jackson was laid to rest n the Story City cemetery. Pall bearers were Max Nordyke, Glen Leland, Robert Mockelstad, James Thompson, Gerald Jackson and Richard Adams.

Obituary

Ora Martine Olson, was born at Instifjord, Norway, on March 2, 1868, being the first child of Bendic and Botilda Olson. These three came to America two years later, making their home on a farm near Stanhope, Iowa, where seven other children were born. They were Hannah, John, George, Ollie, Belle, Iver and Benjamin.

At the age of 25 she married Albert Jackson from Seneca, Ill. To this union 12 children were born, two of whom died in infancy and one, Gladys, at the age of 21. Of these children nine survive.

Ora was a member of St. Petri church and attended services as long as her health permitted.

The first home of the couple was Stanhope. Four years later they moved to Story City, and from there hey moved to Kingfisher, Oklahoma, where they lived for 12 years, returning to Iowa in 1914.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by nine children: three daughters, Mrs. S. H. Leland of Story City, Mrs. Ralph Hicks of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Theodore Thopson of Thompson, Iowa; Six sons, O. B. Jackson of Mason City, Bazil of Blue Earth, Minn., Arnie of Blue Earth, Minn., Birtle of Humeston, Iowa, Julius (Jim) of Story City and EmLee of Mason City.

Mrs. Jackson was taken ill on Jan. 10 at her home and passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 22.
