Mrs. Erma Hicks

Funeral services for Mrs. Erma Hicks were held in St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, Friday afternoon November 22 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rolfe S. Johnstad officiating. Two hymns were sung by the congregation and Mr. and Mrs. Max Nordyke sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Joel Jacobson was organist. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Roger Jokelstad, Ted J. Thompson, Jack Jackson, Max Nordyke, Glen Leland and James Thompson.

Erma Hazel Hicks was born October 3, 1904 in Kingfisher, Okla. She was the daughter of Albert and Ora Jackson who later lived in Story City and who were members of St. Petri Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Hicks attended schools in Stratford and Story City. She was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Hicks in Mason City in 1930.

Mr.and Mrs. Hicks lived in Cut Bank, Mont., and Denver, Colo., prior to their retirement in Bull Shoalds, Ark., where Mr. Hicks passed away in May of 1972. During the last two years of her life Mrs. Hicks made her home in Story City. She passed away at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames, Tuesday evening, November 19, 1974.

She is survived by two sisters and five brothers: Mrs. S. H. (Helen) Leland, Birtel Jackson and Julius (Jim) Jackson, all of Story City; Mrs. Blanche Thompson of Thompson, Lee Jackson of Clear Lake, Orlando Jackson of Mason City, and Bazil Jackson of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arnie and sister, Gladys.
