Last Rites Held For J. H. Housier

Funeral services for John Henry Housier were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Belle Henrehan and Mrs. James Woodruff.

Harold Storey, accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson on the organ sang "The Lord's Prayer."

The casket bearers were Henry Beal, Eddie Harrell, Fay Kirby, Lawrence Toms, William Tipton and Orville Oxley. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral service were Oliver Suttle, Bismark, Ill., Orville Lieschner, Gifford, Ill., Mrs. Annan Hall, Chicago, Mrs. Russell Johnson, Danville, Ill. and Oris Suttle of Ottumwa, Ill.

Obituary

John Henry Housier was born July 8, 1869 at Dunkinsville, Adams county, Ohio and died April 12, 1955 at the University General Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 4 days.

He was the only son of John and Elizabeth Jane Housier. He grew to manhood in Adams County, Ohio. On January 17, 1892 he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Suttle. To this union were born four daughters and two sons. Three daughters died in infancy. Roy C. passed away on November 3, 1948 and Earl E. on August 15, 1949. His wife departed to the better life on August 12, 1950.

He is survived by a daughter, Cora; a sister, Mary (Mrs. B. R. Stebbins, Denver, Colorado)m and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Housier moved from Adams County, Ohio to Danville, Ohio, where they resided thirteen years. On March 21, 1909 they moved to Story County, Iowa, where they farmed until they retired in 1925, when they moved to Nevada.

Mr. Housier was a man who enjoyed his neighbors and friends, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who were in need. He also enjoyed his home and family and was a great reader.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Cora; his relatives and many friends.
