Prayer Service and Last Rites for John Hove
A prayer service at the Larson-Peterson Funeral home at Story City preceded the final rites at 2 o'clock from the St. Petri Lutheran church for John Hove, with his pastor, Rev. S. T. Nelson in charge.
Mrs. Robert Kenney provided two vocal numbers, "Behold a Host" and "Abide With Me." Serving as pall bearers were Lester and Charles Hove, and Tiller Knutson, all of Stanhope, Clarence Hove of Jewell, Tillard Oppedahl of Des Moines and Palmer Hove of Kiester, Minn. Interment was in the local cemetery.
John Hove, a Story City resident for 27 years, died March 30 at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames after a short illness. He had been in failing health for over a year.
Born Feb. 12, 1874, in Hamilton county, he was the son of Peder and Ingebor Hove pioneer settlers in the Lake Center community near Stanhope. He was baptized in the St. Petri church by the Rev. Nils Amlund.
In 1908 he was married to Lisabeth Iverson. He was engaged in farming in the Lake Center community until 1924 when he retired and moved to Story City.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie, a son, Haldor of Northfield, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Hans Oppedahl and two brothrs, Charley and Eric of Story City.
