HANS OLE HOUGLAND

STORY CITY--Hans Ole Hougland, son of Abel and Joren Hougland, was born in Story County on January 21, 1882, and died March 10, 1959 at his home in Story City at the age of 77 years, one month and 19 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church.

Mr. Hougland had been a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City.

With the exception of five years spent as a youth in Webster county near Thor, he had lived his entire life span in the Story City community. He had been a prominent farmer during these many years.

On June third, 1908 he was united in marriage to Christina Wicks. To this union seven children were born. They include: Herman and Arlen and Mrs. Henry Thorsbakken of Story City, Mrs. Clifford O. Swanson of Slater and Mrs. Carrol Anderson of Jewell.

Two infant sons, Selmar and Silas had preceded him in death.

Besides his wife and children he also leaves 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild, one brother Rang of Story City and two sisters, Mrs. Carl Hauge of Leland and Mrs. Lars Tesdal of Story City. Two brothers, Abel and Lars had preceded him in death.
