DEATH OF LEE HARNDEN

Died at Los Angels, Cal. of heart failure, Lee Bradford Harnden, son of John and Martha Harnden of Milford Township. He was born on the old farm near Roland, November 17, 1873, and died August 19, 1904. Only last Christmas he was married to Gertrude Dodds, of Lamar, Colorado, and the two have since made their home in Los Angeles, where Mr. Harnden followed the carpenter's trade. On the morning of August 19, he arose as usual, and remarked to his wife that he never felt better in his life. While breakfast was preparing, the two sat down together to look over the morning news. Mrs. Harnden left his side for a few moments to look after some of the preparations, and immediately upon her return without a word of warning he fell back into her arms dead. The stricken little wife at once made arrangements and brought the body home for interment in the Pleasant Grove cemetery. The funeral, which was conducted from the old home, was in charge of the I. O. O. F. No. 645, of Gilbert Station, the sermon being preached by Rev. Lunton of the Congregational church of Gilbert. He was buried at Pleasant Grove August 25. The funeral which was a large one, was attended by scores of sympathizing friends, and the collection of beautiful flowers, which covered the casket, voiced the sympathy and love of the entire community. Lee Harnden was a man who always made friends wherever he went, and he will be sincerely mourned by a wide circle of acquaintances, as well as his sorrowing family. He leaves a wife, father and mother, two sisters and a brother.

The Harnden family seem to be especially afflicted, for this is the third sudden death in that family within eight years.
