CAMBRIDGE--Funeral services for Eugene Wesley Griffith who died at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, iowa, on June 24, 1958, were held from the Cambridge Methodist church on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Grace Anderson pastor in charge.
The Methodist choir sang two hymns, "Nearer the Cross" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" with Mrs. John Dyer at the piano.
Honorary casket beareres were Herb Moore, O. A. Buland, Kermit Freeland, George Edwards, H. R. Maywald and Kenneth Wilson.
Casket bearers were Dennis Ingram, Harold Erickson, John Harker, Wrex Clawson, Horace Scott and Emmett Scott. Burial was in the Center Grove cemetery.
Life Sketch
Eugene Wesley, son of John and Almyra Griffith, was born in Story county, Iowa on Dec. 18, 1887 and died on June 24, 1958 having reached the age of 70 years, 6 months and 6 days.
On March 7, 1911, he was united in marriage to Ida Howell. To this union were born three children, Marion, who died in infancy, Kermit and Marjorie.
At the time of his death he was vice president of the Cambridge State Bank, having been a member of the Board of Directors for 31 years. His entire life was spent in the Cambridge vicinity.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Marion, his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, his son, Kermit of Cambridge and his daughter, Mrs. John Scott of Cambridge and four grandchildren, Roger and Linda Griffith, John II, and Jene Scott; also two sisters, Mrs. Dora Jones of Des Moines and Mrs. W. T. Hopper of Cambridge and a brother, Floyd Griffith of Cambridge and many other relatives and friends.
