Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Dale Norman Sloan, 87, of Nevada, IA, died Thursday, October 18th, at home surrounded by his family. Visitation: 1:00pm to 3:00pm Sunday, Nov 11th and Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, Nov 12, 2018 at 1st United Methodist Church in Nevada, IA.

Dale was born August 1st, 1931 in Champaign, IL, the son of Jess and Fairy (Schwartz) Sloan. Dale was raised in the Fernwood area of Chicago. He married Romeyn Christine Schrock on August 14, 1954 at the Morgan Park United Methodist Church in Chicago.

Survivors include his wife, Romeyn (Schrock) Sloan; daughters Romeyn Jenkins of Nevada, IA, Becky (Jim) Day of Cross Plains, WI; sons Dan (Jeni) Sloan of Nevada and Jim (Shannon) Sloan of Nevada; and his brother, Dr. Robert (Sally) Sloan of Winona, MN. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a father and grandfather figure to all who needed one.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and son-in-law James Jenkins.
Dale was educated as an electrical engineer, but served in a variety of positions ranging from International Quality Control Manager for Motorola's Radio Division in Schaumburg, IL, Plant Manager for the E.F. Johnson Company, a Vice President for Electronics at Winnebago Industries and the founder of North Iowa Electronics and Sloan Manufacturing. Highlights of his service work include being ordained as a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church, fostering 36 children, with Romeyn, over 11 years, a member of Kiwanis for over 40 years, a member of Gov. Branstad's Small Business Development project in the mid 80's and for over 30 years involved as an Adult leader in Scouts as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster (for Troop 12, Troop 130, and Troop 128) and in a variety of District Roles. He received the Silver Beaver award from Boy Scouts in February of 2007.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to BSA Troop 128, Nevada, IA for the purpose of establishing a campership fund for boys and girls unable to attend camp for financial reasons.
