Mrs. Maria Imelda Gutierrez
June 2, 1950 - November 1, 2018
Ames, Iowa

Maria Imelda Gutierrez, 68 of Ames, passed away at her home with her loving family. Maria was a devoted mother and grandmother. Maria grew alongside her brother Guadalupe Calderon in Montemorelos, NL and eventually moved to Weslaco, TX during her adolescent years. Later in life, Maria moved to Ames, Iowa where all her seven children resided. Maria was a homemaker and a woman of many talents. She enjoyed cooking, doing crafts and most of all, making jewelry for her family. There was no greater joy for Maria than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her seven children Miguel, Elizabeth, Denise, Gloria, Julio, Anthony and Lindsey. Her spouse Julio and brothers Guadalupe and Frank, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her mother Josefina and her sister Priscilla.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa Funeral Home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
