From Fredregill Family Funeral Home obituary, Collins and Zearing, Story County, Iowa:

Marcella Jane Hill, 88, formerly of McCallsburg, passed away surrounded by her loving family at Bethany Life Community in Story City on Sunday, October 28, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. in Bethany Life's Chapel in Story City. Pastor Kathy Sandmann will officiate. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow her memorial service. Burial will follow in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg, Iowa.

Marcella was born on December 7, 1929 in Story City, Iowa to Christian and Martha (Amdhal) Holt. She attended school in Story City and graduated from Story City High School in 1947. After school, she began working at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada. Marcella then worked for Clegent Manufacturing in Ames. She rented a room from Albert and Minnie Hill where she met Myron Hill. Marcella married Myron in January of 1950. The couple resided in McCallsburg, where together they farmed and raised their family. Myron passed away suddenly in 1973., Marcella continued to run the farm and began working at State Bank and Trust in McCallsburg until she retired in 1994.

Marcella was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of McCallsburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher and in the choir. She also belonged to the McCallsburg American Legion Auxillary. Marcella's family was her life. She enjoyed spending time with them and attending all the various activities. Hiding over 200 Easter eggs was always a special time she looked forward to. She also enjoyed bowling, crosswords and later on, putting together jigsaw puzzles with friends. She was also quite the baker, despite her standard proclamation that it's "not worth a darn" or "hardly fit to eat", you wouldn't find a better Kringla. Marcella might have said she wasn't worth a nickel, but to her family she was priceless gold.

Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Pam Thompson of Story City, IA, Mike Hill of Dahinda, IL, and Gregory Hill of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Heather (TJ) Risetter, Lasey (Justin Heath) Handeland, and Cale (Juree) Thompson; great-grandchildren Paiton (Ian) Calvert, Braxton and Teagan Risetter, Carson and Ava Handeland; great-great-grandchild Emerson Jane Calvert; sister-in law Helen Zook, brother-in-law Jerry Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her sisters Evelyn (Blanchard) Thompson and Beverly Anderson, sister-in-law Adeline (Owen) Fincham, brother-in-law Jordan Hill and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or Bethany Life Communities.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, in Zearing, has been entrusted with the care of Marcella and her family.
