Conder Funeral Held Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services for Walter Conder, 62, of Richland township, who died at his home Saturday evening at one o'clock and at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Fernald, at two o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. Helms, assisted by D. W. Wise. Mr. Conder was a member of St. Paul's church. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery. Music was by a mixed quartette consisting of Lillian Wherry, Mrs. V. L. Proctor, Howard Hilburn and Mitchell Wherry, with Blanche Hilburn as pianist.

All threshing crews in the neighborhood stopped work that those employed might attend the services. The church was filled and there were many unable to get in.

Walter Conder was born at Lexington, Ill., February 27, 1865, where he lived through early manhood.

On February 15, 1888 he married Miss Anna Hotsenpiller. After a residence in Illinois for three years he located in Story county, Iowa, on the farm where he breathed his last, August 6, 1927, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 10 days.

He leaves among the sorely bereaved, his wife, two sons, Elmo D. and Elza W., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Harry New and Mrs. Leslie Toot of Story county; one brother, Frank, who resides at Abercrombie, S. D., two sisters, Mrs. Elza Wood and Mrs. Cora Strickland, both of Lexington, Ill. and four grand children.

During his long illness he bore his suffering with patience and fortitude and met death without fear. He was a kind and loving husband and father and his cheerful disposition made friends of all his acquaintances.
