MISS CHALFANT DEAD, FUNERAL HERE TODAY

FORMER NEVADA WOMAN PASSED AWAY SATURDAY AT MASON CITY

Miss Nellie Chalfant, sister of Mrs. Geo. C. White, formerly of this city, died at the Park hospital, Mason City Saturday forenoon at 11 o'clock.

Miss Chalfant who had made her home with Mrs. White in Nevada for many years, was taken ill while teaching at Albia, was taken to Mason City and had been at a hospital there for several weeks suffering from typhoid fever and other complications.

Having taught in Gilbert, Colo, Shipley and possibly other schools in Story county Miss Chalfant had a wide acquaintance over the county. She was a woman of education and fine talent and was one of exceptional merit in educational work.

The body was accompanied from Mason City by Mr. and Mrs. White and other relatives and taken at once to the White home, which had been prepared for their arrival by friends.

The services were in charge of Rev. Jackson Giddens, assisted by Rev. J. George Walz of Central Presbyterian church.
