Cleo A. Bond
Cleo Arthur Bond, 81, 422 So. Fourth St. Ames, Iowa, died at Mary Greeley Hospital Friday Jan. 6, at 1:30 p.m. Services were held Monday Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. from Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Forbes of the Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Masonic services were conducted by the Arcadia Lodge. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.
Cleo Arthur Bond was born April 25, 1896 near Iowa Falls to Charles and Clara Penney Bond, but spent most of his life in Story county. For the past 20 years he lived in Ames. He was a farmer in Milford Township before moving to Ames, and was employed by the Iowa Highway Commission for 12 years.
He was a World War I Veteran serving overseas, a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, the Masons, and the Story County Barracks.
He married Mary Brodie Feb. 15, 1920 at Marshalltown. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Mrs. Roland (Phyllis) Barnes 125 So. Franklin Ave. and Mrs. Harry (LaVonne) Barnes of Clinton, one brother, Frank Bond of Tempe, Ariz., two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Fetterhoff of Nevada and Mrs. Margaret Fetterhoff of Albuquerque, New Mex., six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara Penney Bond, a daughter, Dolores Bates and a grandson Richard Barnes.
Pallbearers were Steve Brodie, Jerry Jon Brodie, Brent Brodie, Chris Brodie, David Christy, and Clark Thompson.
